Is SEO Worth the Investment?

November 21, 2008 by Michelle Waters · Leave a Comment

Many business owners have heard the term SEO, or search engine optimization, but very few really understand how it’s done and what exactly is involved in getting those high rankings in the search engines. They figure that once they’ve paid to have their pages optimized, they should rank in the Top 10 right away and see the sales pouring in.

This week my guest is Stephanie Fish from Buckeye VA and we debunk the myth that SEO is a finite process which yields fast results. We discuss the 4 steps to successfully optimizing your website which are: keyword research, onsite SEO, offsite SEO, and time. Discover how all 4 of these things have to work and blend together to get the high rankings in the search engines.

Promised changes to SEO Power Up

October 31, 2008 by Michelle Waters · Leave a Comment

During Product Sellers Seminar last month, I mentioned that the price of SEO Power Up is going to change this month.

I just finished making the changes which you can see in the letter at SEO Power Up.

Starting today the SEO training course will be $30 per month for six months.

My original goal was to write 52 weekly lessons. So far, we have 28 lessons.

After listening to feedback from my customers, I’ve realized that an entire year of SEO is a really long time. Your goal is to get your site optimized and a plan in place NOW, not a year from now.

So I’ve decided to cut short SEO Power Up to just six months long.

What does this mean for you?

Well, first of all, you’ll get all the amazing information in a short time. The first few weeks of lessons will remain the same and will still help you jumpstart your optimization efforts. But I won’t be dragging out the rest of the information. I’ll sprinkle everything else throughout the lessons, so you won’t miss anything.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Is Your Product Remarkable?

October 30, 2008 by Michelle Waters · Leave a Comment

There are many different variables that determine whether your business will be successful but one of the most important is a simple question all product owners need to ask themselves: is your product remarkable?

Is your product special or unique enough that people will want to purchase it? Will they tell their friends about you?

My guest this week is Rob Wolf of That Baby DVD. He and his wife were inspired to start their own business after seeing another product on they thought they could improve upon. From their home they researched dvd production and manufacturing options and just last year they sold 50,000 baby dvds…all shipped out from their garage!

When Should Your Hobby Become Your Business?

October 23, 2008 by Michelle Waters · Leave a Comment

Welcome to Episode #54!

How many of you started your business as a hobby, just to see if it was a good idea and if your products would actually sell? Did you have a hard time balancing your hobby with your regular job? When did you feel confident enough in your new business to quit your full time job?

My guest this week is Craig Weindling of Smiley Dog. His pet supply delivery service started as a hobby, as a way to get bulk discounts on pet food and toys when he bought in bulk with some friends. After more of his friends found out about his “hobby” they wanted in on the deal and eventually told some of their friends. Before he knew it, Craig was working on his “hobby” every waking moment when he wasn’t working at his regular job.

Craig’s ambition, careful planning, and dedication to customer service have all contributed to his success. Other bigger companies have tried to compete with him in the Seattle area but have failed. Listen in as Craig talks about his biggest challenges and his advice for any home business owner.

If you have a burning question about selling your products that you would like answered on the show, please leave a comment below or call the Listener’s Line at 214-615-6505 x6536.

Can You See Your Dining Room Table?

October 16, 2008 by Michelle Waters · Leave a Comment

Welcome to Episode #53!

We’ve all heard the stories of the work at home crafter whose home becomes overrun with supplies and inventory. Or the direct sales consultant who’s required to carry inventory for her customers and it takes over every corner of her house. Pretty soon the kids have no where to do their homework and the family is left standing in the kitchen to eat their dinner.

Well, that doesn’t have to happen anymore! Small business owners CAN afford to hire an order fulfillment company to get the inventory out of their homes.

Do You Believe In Yourself?

October 2, 2008 by Michelle Waters · Leave a Comment

Welcome to Episode #52!

This week my guest is Marina Westerdahl of Comfy Crawlers. This stay-at-home mom with no business experience invented a unique way to protect baby’s knees while crawling . Without dreaming of starting a business, other moms commented on her product and suggested she start selling them.

Armed with nothing more than a great invention, Marina did some research and networked with other business people and learned how to run her own business. Three short years later Marina’s Comfy Crawlers have been featured in Costco Connection Magazine and have garnered raves from moms across the country.

Marina is proof positive that if you believe in your product, you CAN succeed! Do your research, talk to others involved in selling products, and try to find answers to all your questions. Your hard work will quite possibly pay off in the end!

Getting Organized and Profitable for 2009

September 26, 2008 by Michelle Waters · 1 Comment

Here’s a great freebie that I just heard about and wanted to be sure to pass on to you. If you’re looking to have a more focused, profitable and stress-free 2009 (it’s closer than you think), hurry on over to download it.

It’s put together by Alice Seba, my go-to gal when it comes to running an efficient and profitable online business. She has put together a printable planning calendar that shows you exactly how she plans out her year to keep a steady income without breaking her back.

Interestingly, she calls it a “Planning Calendar”, but what she’s giving away really is a full planner system that you can print out and adapt to your own unique business. It’s a definite must-have and I’ve already grabbed mine.

Get yours with no opt-ins or strings attached:
