Do You Love Your Work?
August 21, 2008 by Michelle Waters

Welcome to Episode #47!
This title is not meant to be a rhetorical question. I ask it in all seriousness because if you don’t love what you do, the job will become that much harder and will take more of your energy to succeed. The only way to find a job you love is to TAKE ACTION.
I wanted to add a subtitle to this week’s podcast episode: How the Chemical Engineer Became a Handbag Designer. My guest this week is proof positive that you can change careers, do something outside of your field of study and still become successful.
My guest, who earned her degree in Chemical Engineering, is Kara Whitten of Kailo Chic. After graduating and working in a lab for one week, Kara realized that this was not the road she wanted to take. She didn’t want to sit day after day in a lab. She realized her creativity was calling for an outlet and she began designing and selling handbags.
Kara shares with us her challenges and tips that have helped her grow her business successfully over the last three years.
