Hi!

Welcome to MichelleWatersOnline.com!

I am a Work At Home Mom (WAHM), with two children, Christopher, who turned seven in March 2007 and Aimee, who will turn 4 in April 2007. I’m also Mom to three animals: Hershey, a chocolate-brown Border Collie mix who we adopted after her mom showed up on our doorstep, in labor, in the snow, a couple of days before Christmas; Molly, a Lab/Border Collie mix who literally followed me home one day; and Princess, the cat we adopted from our local SPCA. I’m also wife to Steve, who I met a couple of lifetimes ago, before the animals, before the kids, when I thought I was going to help people and make the world a better place as a small-town reporter.

Wow. Just mentioning reporting brings back so many memories — but looking at these adorable faces makes the changes in my life so worth it. Those two babies are the reason I’m sitting here right now, writing to you, telling you about my life. And I imagine, you probably have an adorable face or two, or more, who are the reason you’re sitting at your computer, reading this page, and thinking about your internet business and how you’re going to stay at home with those precious little ones.

I had never heard of Work At Home Moms, until a few months after I gave birth to my son. I would look into his face and I couldn’t imagine leaving him every day for eight hours or more. I couldn’t imagine letting someone else raising him. I knew I had writing and design skills from the work I had done for various newspapers, including serving as Editor of The Bison at Oklahoma Baptist University, The Lincoln County News and reporting for The Shawnee News-Star. I’d spent my whole life working towards one goal — and suddenly I didn’t care anymore. All that mattered was this completely dependant bundle I held in my arms, nursed and cared for.

One day, late at night, after designing a graphic or two for an online community I had joined, I realized that maybe I could turn it into a business. My grandparents on my father’s side of the family had run a mom and pop grocery store. I figured, if they could run a business, so could I! So, I started teaching myself HTML. I bought my first domain name in November 2001 and starting doing sites for my friends. During this time, I also toyed with the idea of selling templates, hosting sites and helping other people put their businesses online.

Testing various ecommerce software solutions such as OScommerce, Zen Cart and X-cart left me frustrated, just like many of you. So in July 2004, I began working with the Shop Kit Plus. Finally, I had hit on an idea that would enable me to earn a living while helping other people! Since then, I have devoted my time to making this company one of the best WAHM ecommerce solutions available. With 24/7 customer support and customizable software, my company provides a foundation on which other business owners can build their own dreams.

And now, I’m working towards leading my clients further down the road of business success. Where most hosting and ecommerce companies stop in their tracks, I am forging ahead. I am excited about the possibilities for you as we journey down the road towards making our home-based businesses more successful — while giving us back the time we need to enjoy those precious babies.
