A programming language similar to HTML used to develop web pages. The main difference between XML (sometimes called XTML) and other programming languages is the ability to add customized tags to the web page design. XML provides a platform for developing websites that encompass the principles of Web 2.0. It is a lot more abstract and complex than previous programming languages, and its not quite certain whether XML will replace HTML entirely.
